As a child, reading wasn't my main interest.

Surprising, isn't it?

Honestly, the books I encountered as a child didn't resonate with me or represent people who looked like me. However, in 9th grade, I had an amazing teacher who nurtured my creativity and encouraged me to write my own stories if I couldn't find ones I related to.

Many, many years later, I took that advice to heart. I created characters inspired by my family, characters I longed for as a child, and characters to represent all the kids who felt invisible at times.
